No it's not. If you have ever trained with weights in your life, you would know that there are ways where with lighter weights (but still heavy) and certain repetition counts can train your CNS (I'll say it's central nervous system, since you didn't know that). In this case you could get stronger. Been done many times. A guy who benched 650 raw and went half way with 700 (raw) taught me this concept.

And to give you an idea where his lift stands, the world record raw bench is 722. So I trust in what he says over someone like you.

Something better than trying to swing around a 125 pound sledgehammer? I don't know . I'm stumped.

A 125lb sledgehammer? You've got to be shitting me.

You want a good workout? Get an axe, stand on a big stump, and start hacking away

Would there be a benefit in terms of gaining strength of using a 125 lb sledgehammer over a standard 10 pounder (let's assume you can handle the weight)?

I've never heard of a 125 lb sledgehammer you not only need strength but incredible stability.

Sledgehammers build great explosiveness for fighters and boxers and is a great tool for metabolic conditioning:

Now if you want stability and greater range of motion in the delts, scapula, etc while building core strength I'd recommend Persian and Indian clubs.

And to be honest you really don't need anything heavier than a 16 or 20 lb sledgehammer if it's that easy start using one hand

I've seen videos of people working out with sledgehammers throughout the years. I recently thought about adding it into my routine once a week or so. I know how swinging a bat or golf club after a long layoff makes you sore the next day. You use muscles you just dont use the same swinging things.

But then I realized, I have no effing idea what they're swinging it into. I know that's retarded, but I never paid attention to where they hammer was landing. It can't be the ground. A tire? Is there not too much rebound? Wtf am I supposed to do with this sledgehammer.

Just swing that shite around like croasfit and you'll be jacked in no time.

Or you'll blow out a shoulder and drop that bad boy on your foot

You typically swing the hammer on larger tires since a lot of athletes would use the tires to flip as well.
