Dumb decision but our company is known for making not so bright decisions that have long lasting negative consequences.

You work for Mr Kruger at Kruger industrial smoothing?

It's fun at first. But you sick of being at home all day.
I've been doing it 8 years, and although it gets boring at times, being alone at home, it beats the shite out of going to work.

I do also have a very active social life, which is probably somewhat due to my lack of social activity during work days.

I’d prefer 2-3 days at home and the rest in the office

Started working from home for the same reason yesterday. Love it.

I travel for work occasionally (4 times a year or so), which breaks up the monotony somewhat. I wouldn't be opposed to traveling one week a month, and working from home the other 3.

You could be like my boss who says who cares if you have the virus come to work anyway. If we are all sick you can't infect anyone

Sounds like my old boss

They bought cots for employees to sleep in the warehouse during hurricane season
No showers, nothing to cook meals on but they expected us to stay there.

I’m on year three and Lord willing will never have to work in a company office again.

For all those working remotely, do you mind saying who you work for and city/state you are in?

I won’t tell you the name of my employer, but it’s a Bay Area-based tech company with around 300 employees. I work remotely from my home in Spring Hill, TN, and have done so for the past 4 years. It takes some getting used to, but I don’t think I could go back to working in an office setting on a regular basis.

Our company just sent out an email saying that the US offices (we have 2) are closed until March 20th. Nothing changes for me.

If anything positive comes out of this Corona virus, it’s that maybe employers who were initially hesitant about remote work will see that productivity doesn’t take a hit & will embrace remote work, and thus downstream help traffic woes in major cities.
