If it's financial statement related, they are paid to sign off, which they always do (except in extreme cases).
You find what you are looking for and financial statement auditors are looking for things that show they are doing their job, but they like the company are working towards that sign off.

This... x1000. Half the paperwork I do (TPS Reports) are because some government agency said I have to. We aren't even a publicly traded company.

Disagree, it's supposed to be an evaluation more or less. But then again, depends on what type of audit this is

If it's internal you'll be alright. They will probably try to come up with some kind of bogus recommendation.
