I think these are different things. "Carbon Copy" is where you either insert the "carbon" transfer sheets to allow you to type (on a typewriter, yo) multiple copies at the same time or use a multiple page form with the carbons already attached.
The "purple" worksheets were a high volume machine that educators used to make multiple copies of a master (some were even hand cranked) - using the purplish/bluish fluid - on so-called "ditto" machines (or spirit duplicators - as the fluid was mainly alcohol).
This was similar to the mimeograph machine (another word that doesn't make sense to millenials and younger folks).
These have been largely replaced by word processing software attached to high volume printers and copiers.

I used the hand cranked one in graduate school at the University of Maine in the 1980s. Jambed on occasion, but overall, pretty efficient.

I can but I won't. Something else I learned in looking at spirit duplicators (ditto machines) - tattoo artists still use a form of the technology for transfers of durable print to the skin. Virtualy all the old machines are gone, but new, purpose built equipment for the industry is being made now.
The more you know, right?

a good friend of mine from hs is a sports writer for the Times-Picayune, when he first started out I would go with him to cover sporting events, he would have to lug this huge case around, was pretty heavy and too big to be carry on luggage, it was a forerunner of the fax machine, looked sort old like an old lie detector, after he finished writing his story he would type it into the machine, then hook it up to a phone and send it in to the paper, it even had a hand written version that had these needles that would make a facsimile of his hand writing and send it in, the receiver had the same needles and would reproduce the hand writing and print it on a scroll like some of the early fax machines

Be sure to "grease" my car when you change the oil and filter. Is your new car a sedan or a "hardtop" (has no posts between the front and rear side windows).
