A question more directed at you older baws with wives. Were women more prolific shoppers when shopping was an “event” and they would come home with bags full of stuff “on sale!” Or is it worse now with the stealth online shopping and packages showing up on the front porch all the fricking time?

I guess the two resident women here could also weigh in.

And one of them is a man.

Way more than two women here.

I can’t speak to habits 20 years ago but I don’t think I buy more or less because of online shopping. It just makes my life more convenient that I don’t have to run out to a store to grab every little thing needed for me, the kids or whatever the heck they tend to need for their school or other activities. I probably do better $$ wise because online shopping makes comparing prices a little easier.

Mine used to bring one bag in and hide the rest in the trunk until the coast was clear.

Stitchfix is trash. Did it once and sent everything back. Everything they sent was cheap and unflattering.

I’m a woman who doesn’t shop. I prefer saving money.

My SO's mother is the biggest shopper I know. It is 100% a hobby. She brings gumbo, poboys, desserts, etc. to her ladies at Dillard's and Macy's each week They hold stuff behind the counter for her, give her special deals, etc. She buys my SO and I all kinds of things when she gets them on major discounts.

I don't know anyone in my generation that shops like that, to be honest. Its just not like that anymore. Getting X-brand-name on some major sale doesn't matter to younger people. We just wear whatever label/no label and aren't concerned about the name or logo.

But one could argue that the random stuff we buy on Amazon makes up for it? We don't go on huge shopping sprees like our mothers did, and we don't care that much about blowout sales, but we do spend money..

What she said. I don’t care about labels and blowout sales. That’s annoying because you have to go fight with crowds and nothing is worth me fighting over. I would argue that the random “Amazon” purchases are things I would end up buying at target or another store, anyway.
