well that isn't exactly what the study states
it basically states that women (and men) will seek long term coupling for parenting but women will always seek the best genes (masculinity), even after the long term coupling of the other partner if another more masculine male comes into the picture
and sometimes she will try to reproduce with this other male, while keeping the less masculine male around to raise the child because he will make the better father
but, of course, this is all ancestral data, and we will and can evolve psychologically over time to fit our needs
this isn't anything written into our DNA, but rather evolved strategies to succeed
