i wouldn't say it in a public forum like that, but i consider my boss or father in law more of a dad to me than my father. i get the statement, but don't think it's said in good taste.
he was a great "father" but hasn't been a great dad and grandfather. i love him, but we never have nor will be close on any sort of emotional level.

He was always present, at all my games, and provided for me till I was 18 and taught me a lot.
He never said he loved me or was proud of me, which is fine. I love him and don’t need to hear that.
But our relationship never had an ounce of emotion. I never went to him for advice because he just didn’t really care about anything I was doing other than having a job.
