This video was a wake up call for me.
My two year old and I went to the mall the other day. He was so excited about the escalators. We rode it. I held his hand and we practiced stepping on. It all went fine, but I think for a few more years, I'll either hold him on an escalator or just take the stairs.

Obviously a different situation in the OP, but stuff like this probably happens more now that we're all staring into our phones while walking.
Some lady in Dallas was run over and killed last week.. texting and crossing street downtown.
