You are not required to carry an ID in the U.S.
True, but as I stated its done so they know who they are interacting or dealing with. It's what they are trained to do. It's a dangerous job.. It's no different than them running your tag before they get out of their vehicle and approach your car in a traffic stop. It can't tell you everything but the alternative is to blindly put yourself at risk by not identifying who it is you're dealing with. If you can figure another way to minimize that risk without asking for an ID, I would gladly listen.

She was obviously flapping her arms as part of her excerise routine
Clearly that behavior wasn't odd. I mean, it's abundantly common to see people walking around flapping their arms like a fricking bird? Who exercises like this? If you saw that in your neighborhood (regardless of the person's race) you wouldn't think that was odd behavior?
This has absolutely nothing to do with race and everything to do with this woman exhibiting odd behavior. The cops probably did want to stop her just to make sure this wasn't some fricking lunatic walking around in a relatively nice neighborhood. Newsflash lady, you weren't stopped because you were black. You were stopped for (what would have been less than 2 minutes) because you were acting like a crazy person.
No normal person except maybe the St. Joseph's Hawk "exercises" like that.

Not sure she lied, but she sure as hell went overboard. Sounds like she has a chip on her shoulders for sure though.
BUt don't the cops have better things to do than to stop walkers of any color?

The cops do not and did not need to put on their flashers.
You do know that cops put on their flashers to let other vehicles know they may be out of the car right?

She was waving her hands like a bird. She caused a motorist to come to a complete stop.
They were trying to help the crazy lady not get run over by a car. And the cops said that in a nice tone immediately.
Reading comments like yours and others from articles blows my mind. It's pathetic the mindset of some people in this society.
The "dean" should be fired for using her title to write that racist slam piece. And sad part she honestly probably still thinks she is in the right. 4chan or anonymous needs to cause repercussions for shite like this--this mindset has absolutely destroyed our country since social media took over.

Did they have flashers on and triangulate with two officers? The context is important.
Two cars and lights. Perhaps because of the early hours and low lighting.
Just turned three years since she passed. Have not forgotten that call from dad saying the cops had to bring her home...
