Winter Storm Watch for ALL of South Louisiana - This Tuesday
Maybe we'll actually get some snow this time.

New NAM shows snow a little more north than before, still over south LA, but a ton of ice all over the south shore.

precipitation at 51 hours from now.
types of precipitation at 51 hours
total snowfall for the storm (keep in mind this includes sleet as well, this map isn't known for being too accurate so take it with a grain of salt)

For those who don't know every 1 inch of rain = 10 inches of snow

yep the average is 6.25" snow = 1 inch of rain, but warmer areas its higher, colder areas its lower.

If it's powder. Wet, slushy snow it's usually quite a bit less.

For you guys over in Houston and surrounding areas don't let the snow map fool you. Looks like y'all now have the potential to get one hell of an ice storm. This is from the 0z NAM as well just about 8 hrs earlier

What y'all thinking we will get here in Cenla?
Seemed like we weren't projected for much of anything last week, but ended up with the majority of the snow.

Snow is always better. Like another guy said. Foot and half snow is better than a ice storm.
Half of me actually wants to be down there for it. To see everyone freak out. I would be fine, but considering the inevitable power outage, I'm fine freezing my arse off, but have a house with power to go to.

most likely

I'm honestly not sure. I left the state this morning, so I have only seen a little bit, but it looked like weather bug was saying .5" Ice and 2" snow on the southshore. Reading on here, looks like more ice less snow across NOLA.
I better see snow tomorrow morning leaving from Knoxville, cuz I aint seen snow in 5 years, and would be upset if I missed snow there by going up north for cold and no snow.

Whereabouts in LA? From everything ive seen looks lime from alexandria north is just going to be cold with maybe some light snow/flurries flying around.
And you're exactly right with your statement so you never know what exactly will happen until the time comes. Hell slim chance but we might end up with nothing but rain and cold.

The 00z NAM continues the trend of slowing down the energy that causes the storm. It is only slightly slower than 18z but has a pretty big impact for areas out W of Houston heading out towards the Hill Country where more dry air is able to filter in.
A lot of S. Louisiana picks up more precipitation this run but that snow map is dubious at best with forecast soundings showing BTR starting out as possibly rain and then transitioning to freezing rain, sleet, and then finally snow but by then dry air is really starting to filter in.
Temps are borderline for New Orleans and there is a massive batch of warm air above the surface. New Orleans may not transition over to freezing rain until late in the event. Once again, all of this is based on taking the 00z NAM verbatim.
