How do people have time for this? That looks like a several hour process. No way I could carve 3 or 4 hours out of my busy day to charge my car. Definitely wouldn’t want to do it on a road trip or family vacation.

ECs are not for everyone and everyone’s diving situation. But statements like this make you look dumb.

I’m sure if you own a Tesla you have some form of a charging station at home. Then you aren’t dealing with a line like this daily if ever.

I would never want to road trip in one. But most families also have two vehicles.

How is that even possible? You going to sit in your car for hours just to get a little charge? No way people are actually doing that.

I recently bought a Model 3. Not because I give a shite about Climate Change. I’m a tech nerd who loves to tinker with shite. It’s also dangerously fast and incredibly fun to drive. Has top rated crash ratings. It triggers everyone, liberals hate me because Elon bad like orange man. Conservatives hate me because they think I’m a liberal tree hugger despite the fact I voted for Orange man in 2020. I’d also never opt for a traditional car buying experience over a Tesla again. Dealerships feel like some weird middle school dating ritual. Buying a Tesla was the most painless thing I’ve ever done.

I’m getting the Home Charger installed this week. With that you gain about 30-40 miles of range per hour. Which means if you plug it in when you get home from work, then you wake up every day with a “full tank” of 300ish miles of range. If someone doesn’t have the ability to get a proper home charger I would never advise them to get a Tesla. Supercharging is really meant for road-tripping long distance.(We would still take our gas Minivan)Otherwise with a home charger you literally will never run out of range doing your day to day activities around town.

With that said, I’ve been using superchargers this week as I wait for my home charger from UPS. I’ve literally pulled right in each time with zero wait. I pop open YouTube on the car screen and sit there for 20 minutes. It’s been painless. It’s probably very different depending on the market. But this looks like a mix between a bunch of tourist and a bunch of city dwellers with no where else to charge ,who didn’t do proper research before they bought and only have one or two places to charge where they live and they can’t charge at home. They should have just bought a Corolla.

I agree they are not for everyone, but why does this make me look dumb? Do you have time to carve out for something like this? I get not everyone works. This is not the only long line, I see these cars waiting to charge all over the place. Our local mall, Bass Pro, etc., have the chargers and they are always full.

Gas owners are more likely to wait in line for Gas at Costco than a Tesla owner with a proper home charger installed.

This is just a bunch of idiots who bought one without planning and have no where to charge.

I give zero fricks about ideology or political affiliation when I see people driving or owning a Tesla or any other EV.

While I agree too many people let that control their thoughts and motives, it certainly isn't everyone. Its just a loud, angry, unhappy minority.

Yep. And honestly it’s the anti Musk liberals are the ones keying Teslas mostly. Usually the ole Baws just kinda shake their heads at me thinking I’m some kind of soy boy. They don’t know I’m probably more right wing than them with multiple exercises of the 2A at home.

I'm surprised if people are actually waiting for these chargers. Most chargers at stores, parks, etc. are slow level 2 chargers. Meaning that in most cases you need to be plugged in for 8 hours or more to "fill up". I would expect them to be full though, because why not. Most places these chargers are free, provide preferred parking. So if you have EV, makes sense to park and charge something if the space is open.

Infrastructure definitely isn't there for the fast chargers. Fast charging stations are pretty sparse within most cities right now and are along the interstates/major highways of travel. Will get better, but I do think situations like the OP will get worse before it gets better. It's already like this in many places of tesla chargers and they are about to open parts of their fast charging network to non tesla vehicles next year. Well see how that plays out in the short term.

The smart ones are hybrid owners - still use gas but can be smug about getting 60mpg's even though they're paying $8k more for the vehicle which is $12k after financing that shitbox for 10 years.

We have two charging stations in my town that’s in BFE, in a parish with probably less than 100 in the entire Parish. I know that you have to pay for a charge, but what tax dollars this come from to build and maintain them?

What city and how far away from two metro areas are you? Ardmore, OK had a charging station for 40-50 teslas back in 2015/2016 time frame despite it being a town of <30,000. However is halfway between Dallas and OKC and was the perfect spot to put a charging station

Surprised that massive casino at the state line doesn't have their entire perimeter lined with chargers.

Hertz rentals and Uber drivers. They block the entrance and drive like maniacs down vets. So annoying.

Someone tell this to the California politicians that think every semi truck that enters their state will be electric by 2030.

Someone needs to tell them they are supposed to charge at home during the night.
