What's to "admit" here? Supply chains are long, everything requires energy, and a whole lot of our energy is produced with fossil fuels.

There's no fairy dust. What are you getting at? Do you need help understanding the trade-offs here?

What are your thoughts on the amount of VARS produced by wind and solar applications? Do you think the lack of rotor size could be detrimental in to moving electricity even moderate distances?

Do you see any issue having this combined with the recent push for efficient, low VAR turbines such as the CCGT? What is your solution to this potential problem?

The farce that is "renewable energy". The "renewable energy" sector is built and maintained with fossil fuels.

Just so the classroom understands you correctly, are you asking if the rotor size on a particular turbine has a direct correlation to how far the power can be moved?

I said this in a thread a few years back when I still had them as a customer

The eagles were big, but there were TONS of other birds and raptors

coyotes usually take care of them pretty quick

Oil has done far more damage than wind farms will ever approach.

It provides far more energy than wind farms will ever approach too.

How bout this: every component of a wind farm is rare earth metal or petroleum based

The amount of VARS on the grid determine the ability to move electricity long distances. Larger conventional steam turbine/generators that are in reserve are put in place all over the country just to increase VARS, regardless of the amount of megawatts needed.

I remember the dispersants used in response did more long term environmental damage than the spill.

Seems like Ida did more to frick up GI and the coast than BP. But Mother Nature doesn’t hand out money to everyone and you can’t sue her so…

only killed 150 eagles

The bright side is that they're endangered and it won't be long before the turbines kill them all.

Then it won't be an issue!

To start you have to have an idea of the quantities involved. You can't just say "you're using fossil fuels to avoid using fossil fuels" and leave it at that. If you're using a barrel to save a barrel, that's obviously pointless. If you're using a barrel to save ten barrels, then you're getting a return. In the end everything is reduced to energy, and profitability essentially comes down to energy out minus energy in. Wind energy is much cheaper than energy from most other sources. I'll let you figure out why that is.

And we mastered electricity by candlelight. What kind of point do you think you're making?

If an oil company would have killed one eagle it would have been on every news outlet in the country.

Clean energy…..

Exactly.

The number of bird deaths for these things are way under reported. Someone once posted ‘I don’t ever see any dead birds laying on the ground at wind farms.’ Well no shite, they are scavenged and long gone by the time you make your once a month visit.

I said that. And I spend half the year living on a wind farm. Still haven't seen a single dead bird.
