Has anyone ever used this guy or familiar with any of the work he has done? I will be building a house within the next couple years and will need a full set of plans and I was thinking of going with him.

We have been working with Bill on a plan for our new house the last month. It has been a nice change from the last architect we had worked with who was some what of a diva.
Bill is a good listener and does a good job incorporating your wants into the design. He doesn't just design what he wants you to have, which was our problem with the previous architect. He also stays on schedule and meets with us at my office so our meetings don't interrupt my schedule too much.
Designing a house is a process with a lot of give and take. If there is something in his design you don't like, he doesn't get his feelings hurt when you tell him, he just alters it without too much fuss.
Check out some of his work on his website. I definitely recommend Bill.

I looked on his website, really nice work. How much is it typically for a full set of plans on a house around 3000SF?

That's like asking how much does a four door car cost. It depends on what you are asking of him. There are some plans for the same square footage which are twice as expensive as a plain Acadian or Tudor.
I only know Mssr Powell professionally, I'm sure his rates are not out of line with other higher end architects. If you have to ask, you prolly can't afford it.

Definitely not the case, but I guess it was funny.

I think his usual fee is $4 sqft, but we are paying $3.50 (he discounted his fee since he really wanted his design in the development we are building in.
I was going to build in another area and had a plan done by another architect and Bill's plans are so much more thorough and detailed.

That is the stupidest thing I've ever read.
He is a good architect and as above will work with you like most good architects do.
A couple others to consider would be Al Jones, Lionel Bailey and although I'm not really a fan, Trula Remson. Sam Herpin in their office is a very good architect.

The first time I heard that line used was about Rolls-Royce oil changes.
Feel free to use it at will. Good luck on the project, he's got a good reputation.

Yea I have heard those guys are pretty good as well. The reason I'm seeking for reviews and opinions is because my wife does business with him and his wife so there are deals to be worked out. More so checking his reputation and quality, which I have heard was good.

If this is true then either you don't read much or you don't comprehend well or a combination of the two.

Na, not my style of humor thanks though. But you should change your username to ZJ.

Yeah you are probably right. I'll have to amend that statement since I went back and read a bit of your post history. Wow. Just wow.

You always seem to be up everything in construction locally. Do you have any recommendations for custom home builders in Baton Rouge?
Thanks
