But it said it still expects EVs to start making money soon, going from a 40% operating loss margin last year, when it sold about 96,000 EVs, bringing in $5.3 billion in revenue, to about an 8% profit margin by the end of 2026.
Did Solyndra have these sort of projections?

Stupid attempt at a “gotcha”. Solyndra was trying to develop a new type of PV module. Ford’s isn’t innovating, they’re just trying to make normal EVs.

They weren't trying to generate revenue and eventually a profit?

They're not innovating??
Most Innovative design Companies of 2022
quote:
2. FORD MOTOR CO.
For building America’s electric vehicle
The F-150 Lightning, which goes on sale in 2022 after much fanfare, is the electrified version of the best-selling vehicle in U.S. history. This is a moment. On top of entering the market as an affordable EV performance version of America’s favorite vehicle and reaching nearly 200,000 preorders before Ford paused them, the F-150 is also a backup storage battery for your home that can run for days on end. This is just the sort of advanced, vehicle-to-grid power-sharing technology that researchers at UCLA proved out years ago and nearly everyone in the energy industry agrees is needed to balance power loads. But Ford is the first manufacturer bold enough to ship the option. However, car watchers shouldn’t let too much electric truck distract them from Ford’s other exciting releases. The company’s other new truck, the Maverick, starts at under $20,000. Its open bed is designed to be hacked with 2x4s, for anything from storing plants to constructing your own camping setup. In 2022, Ford has made buying a truck a tantalizing option.

Eventually. If the product had worked. Which it didn’t.

They’re not innovating??
No. They’re making boring old EVs with no tech that hasn’t already been developed. Packaging existing EV tech in a truck chassis isn’t innovating no matter what some paid for article says.

Absolutely nothing new with EV tech within the Ford Lightning? What are they doing with the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center?

Had no idea that they are the ones behind those ugly Yeezy slides but they're making stacks of money.

What’s innovative or new about either?

Going off of Merriam-Webster
quote:
1: to introduce as or as if new
The F-150 Lightning is the first EV truck from Ford and I believe it is the only full-size truck available on the market.
quote:
2: to effect a change in
The Rouge Electric Vehicle Center will create a change in the way that electric vehicles are manufactured for Ford.
I hope it works out for Ford but they have a long ways to go, their profit projections seem incredibly optimistic.

I just don’t see putting the same old tech in a truck chassis and copying what Tesla has done at Fremont or Sparks as innovating.

So you agree that Ford will continue to lose money on their EV line?

what does that have to do with innovation?
I’d say they have a better chance at profitability since they’re just copying existing tech.

I wish the complete embrace to EV would hurry up and happen so these damn diesel truck prices would drop like a rock. I have to get a new one and $90k price tag for a new truck is just stupid.

Circling back to your statement of it being a "stupid gotcha."

It is. Ford and Solyndra have nothing in common other than that they’re both companies and have investors.
