he's really in the CID. he only tells people he's in the CIA so they'll think he's in the CIC.

Do any of y’all remember the original movie. I recommend it. The book was good too. The shower scene with Hot Lips was killer.

I guess something changed. I remember reading a few years ago that they developing a new Magnum P.I. Where the lead character would be his daughter as a adult.

In real life Radar had a deformity, of his right hand I believe, and as a result he always kept it "hidden" or covered up with something. A friend who was a MASH nerd told that story. As for being a prince of a guy/a-hole, Good Ol' Boy Andy was supposedly a real horse's arse in real life.

Long story, but someone that is related to my uncle by marriage worked on both shows with Andy Griffith and he said that Griffith was totally different to work with from The Andy Griffith Show to Matlock. He was strong-willed, but friendly to co-workers on TAGS. Apparently on Matlock he was strong-willed and a total jerk.

My favorite character was Capt Tuttle. He was as humble as he was generous, and he died so tragically.

Well, he was unashamedly liberal... so yeah, an arse.

I liked on MASH how they would hit that place on the bunk bed and it would raise up to reveal how they got down in the tunnel system. And that tree stump in the woods that opened... cool as heck.

former child evangelist Marjoe Gortner, who worked with both Griffith and Wm Shatner on the camp classic TV movie Pray For The Wildcats (1974) said that he was not surprised by Shatner being a total PITA (it was fairly common knowledge even then) but he was shocked to learn beloved Andy was just as big a one.

yes it's true

also James Doohan, Scotty on Star Trek, had one of his fingers shot off in the Normandy landings

Supposedly in both cases you can occasionally see these defects if you pay close enough attention and stop the video

Never really watched MASH, but I was raised on Andy Griffith. Still watch them anytime I see it on. Seasons 1-5 only though. Don't watch the color episodes without Barney

The producers claimed they got rid of Spearchucker Jones b/c there were no black surgeons in Korea.

There were in fact black surgeons in Korea

The real reason the character was dropped is b/c Alda began getting the majority of screen time, and the supporting cast was downsized

If they ever do a reboot of MASH I am pretty sure they won't have a character name spearchucker
