ETA A lot of people here are talking about confidence....myself I found that when I got my first job that boosted my confidence a lot (not that it was ever low but still)....probably has something to do with the fact that you have a lot of your own money in your pocket and are now totally reliable on yourself and beholden to no one else.
Also, in an office setting it is easier to just converse with people after you work with them and start spending more time with them than anyone else in their lives basically. My wife hate's my "office wife"....I'd never cheat but honestly I spend more hours in the day (during the week) working with my office wife than I do at home with my real wife..it is what it is.
My first real job empowered me....could do the same for you...I say get a damn good job.
