I worked with this for years. I was fire chief for 6 years. What is your experience level?

Timber companies banned all vehicle access on our deer lease near Fort Polk including atvs and tractors until we get more rain - looks like no food plots this year

How far will you have to walk to your blinds?

Likely they will let us back in, in time for the opening- but it’s too far too walk in corn, etc

Update:
I think you folks should be proud of the leadership and response to these fires. That sheriff seems to want to do the best he can, which is more than half the battle. Seeing the State and Federal response to your area is refreshing. They haven't spared much, if anything in fighting this.

They are doing a great job in an unfamiliar situation.

They are, and all involved seem to be learning. Something like this may never happen again, but if it does they will be better prepared. Understanding what you don't know is important. They acted swiftly when they realized this was beyond their scope, and have played their roll in fighting this fire well. That's how the whole wildfire response is structured, in a tiered system with different areas of expertise. It is nice to see things work well for a change.

Looks like some good rain today. I hope that helps knock the fires down

Burn bans need to be lifted in some parishes

That's a huge news item. The Ida Fire was Negligent Arson. One of the other fires in the area found to be started by Arson.
I wonder if ANY of these fires were started by natural causes and not Arson?

Whelp, like I said......the odds are always on human start. Arsons are up this year. Hang em and be done with it.

With all due respect, tigergirl, you aren't qualified to make that decision.

This is what we've been praying for. My dad is a volunteer with Fire District 9 - Bush and Fifth Ward Volunteer Fire Dept.

This state is corrupt as frick, and run by crooked thieves. Does that answer your question?

The people most likely to mishandle it is local fire dept. officials.
