They are brutal.
I've been waiting on the scores from my May test for almost 3 months now, and it's a brand new test so honestly there's no telling if someone bombed or not, especially if they took BEC.
I was absolutely blown away how much different BEC was between the old test and new test.

The worst part is the wait with the recent change. I finished long ago, but the new scoring wait is garbage. It truly is ridiculous that some people have to wait up to 3-4 months to get scores back.
Tell her to keep her head up, that's all you and she can do. If she's just starting, that would mean she's not in risk of any credits expiring. Don't let her burn herself out trying to balance work and studying, I have seen it happen to a ton of people. It's just stupid letters behind the name. She will get them eventually.
What study prep is she using? Does she work in public accounting?

just keep telling her she will eventually pass all of them ... they are tests ... with numerous study guides ...
she will be fine ... might be in the very long run, but she'll pass all of them ...

Yep, that's how I feel. What I currently do has little in common with actual accounting, so it's extremely hard to put in 9 hours and then another 3 or 4 just to get ready for the next test, but that's where my future is at. I just can't wait until I get that damn certification and hopefully it'll open up some opportunities on the west coast and in Texas.

How so? I'm taking it at the end of the month and haven't found it to be TOO bad. It sucks, of course, but it isn't impossible by any means.

What kind of opportunity are you hoping for?

A CPA firm where I can get some public auditing experience.

We had to wait that long 6-7 years ago.
They shortened the wait only for the past few years

You should be able to get that before passing the exam

There wasn't a single one I felt good about when I left the testing center but I passed all 4 on the first try. Whether you feel good or bad, you have to make sure you begin studying for the next exam. 18 months to pass all 4 can come quick. There's not much time to feel sorry for yourself.

I guess I need to just flood the areas with resumes then.

Tell her to download the Ninja on-line tests. Thousands of questions for $40/part. I just basically memorized. Studied weekends for abt 4hrs/day.

The problem is they changed the tests and none of the CPA study classes were really ready for the new ones. I know BEC was massively altered.

I passed all four, first try for each one. Every single one I walked out of that damn computer center pissed off at the world, knowing I did horrible. My worst score was a 79.
She probably feels that she bombed it because there were questions that made no sense to her. Every testlet, there are a couple of questions that aren't graded but are simply being asked to judge if they are good questions to be graded in future windows. Odds are... if a question made no sense... it's one of those and will be rewritten before it's ever graded.
With the revision of the exam starting with the April window, there's a lot of stress out there. If your wife got her degree from a half-way decent accounting program (i.e. not Southern or Grambling) and is seriously taking a prep class (70-100 hours of studying per exam) she should be fine.
And just so you are prepared... if she gets a 72, she's gonna be a lot more pissed off than if she got a 52.
