They’re good for everything except politics. And even then they aren’t total crap, they just seem to cherry pick a lot of stuff.

I don't really go to their site much, but I don't really recall them dipping their toes into the political world all that much. Perhaps they have since Trump came along and spends most of his days telling blatant lies though. Most of those are pretty easy to dispel without visiting a fact-checking website though.

Snopes loves being intellectually dishonest and cherry picking info. They also love overplaying their hand on a subject to make it false if the story comes from the right side of the political aisle.

Lot of people in this thread pissed about what they choose to fact check, but my question is - are they accurate.

If they pick on Trump, but still post accurate fact checks, that's different than simply making stuff up.

In my experience, they are. I don't think they're the go-to place they were years ago, but I can't recall anything I've read there that they've investigated to be inaccurate.

They're certainly not unbiased though. Nobody is 100% unbiased.

It’s not that straightforward. This is a very simplistic view that leaves no to for nuance.

I don’t go there much in the last ten years. But for an example:

During the 08 election, emails were going around about Obama, the email would list like 40 things. They’d give it a false rating and then dispute like ten of the items. That’s what I mean by cherry picking.
