There are three ways a banner ad can show up here:
1) Chicken selects the ad. That's the case with Bridge House (one of his favorite charities) or with paid advertisers.
2) Websites you, or another user on your computer, has visited in the past year.
3) Ads relevant to the content of the page you're viewing. So if the Poliboard has a lot of mentions of John Bel Edwards, that will cause his banner ads to show up.
