Good, reasonable people don't do this, do they?

Take Tebow for example. Only shitty people are hoping he screws up his life. Contrast that with Hugh Freeze, who many people viewed as knowingly cheating and being fake. Contrast him with say, Dabo Swinney. I hate Bama and dislike Clemson but I'm not rooting for a scandal with Dabo. I think he's a genuine dude and I'd be sad for him and those around him if he failed in some spectacular fashion. The exception to that being if the failure revealed we'd be duped all along.

I do think there is still something in reasonable people that make them root for the drama of seeing scandal erupt, but I'm not sure it's the same thing (though it's probably related).

Most people are petty, jealous and bitter at life. They realize they'll just be a cog in the machine their whole life so they live to tear others down

I don't get it either.

Some people lack the ability to see a wolf in sheep's clothing. Sometimes a person is only playing the hero while their motives are truly that of a villain...but they are good enough at it to fool many.
