Why exactly was Pinball banned in NYC for over 30 years?

Gambling I'd assume (maybe organized crime associated as well)

Thanks, I'll give it a listen. I once saw an episode of Mysteries at the Museum on the Travel Channel that had a segment on Roger Sharpe and pinball machine that brought pinball back to NYC.
