Why don't movie times come out more in advance?

Was thinking of taking the old lady (no pics) to dinner and the movies on Friday night. Kids have been invited to sleep over at granny's.

Looking at the movie listings... the vast majority of them are not yet posted for Friday.

It's 2019. Are theaters - especially ones owned by large corporations - really waiting until a day or two before to decide what movies and what times they show?

I bet they’ll start around 7. And again around 9.

Three days before.

Who the hell needs a schedule that exact for a date?

Why don’t you just skip the movie and take her behind Sonic

Everything playing today, plus whatever is released between now and then.

I’d assume the same that are playing today/tomorrow/Wednesday. Maybe a new flick or two. Idk. I bet google could help you out

Pro tip:

Look at the movie times for the dates leading up to the date you want. It's a pretty good bet there's a trend, and you can figure out when your movie will play that night.

I worked in a theater in college. We always released them on Wednesday for the week. It has to do with finalizing the schedule of which new movies they will show. Look on Wednesday and it will be up through the next Tuesday.
