re: Why don’t more people who believe in evolution advocate for Darwinism in people?

If natural selection produces the fittest over time, and created man, why shouldn’t it happen? Or is man’s evolution complete?
Because we have the technology available to insure the reproduction and continued survival of all humans regardless of fitness.

Humans have evolved to the point where individuals can contribute more than just gametes to the development of our species.
So man’s physical evolution following the normal accepted path is over?

I don’t think so, not if you truly believe that the process of evolution produces the best that a species can achieve.
Are you for real right now? Because someone believes in evolution they should be fine with letting people die from preventable causes? Is that what you're saying?

evolution produces the best that a species can achieve.
Also, evolution doesn't do this.

Does that mean that man is finished evolving in a manner similar to all other creatures on Earth?

The human race has evolved to the point where we need more than just the people with the best genetics. Those people with the best genetics will do great things. But we still need ditch diggers and garbage men. And those people are the ones that need help

Actually no. There are a lot of things about our bodies that continue to change.
Wisdom teeth, pinky toes, body hair, etc.
As generations of people do not need certain parts of their body, they will disappear or shrink.

I’m saying that many people blather on about topics like this without a thought to the idiosyncracies of what they believe.

They aren't connected.
You're completely off the reservation. Its so stupid, its hard to argue.

So we have moved beyond the established theory of natural selection?

I disagree but that’s fine

So you're not saying that someone that believes in evolution should let friends and family die of preventable causes.
Good. Because it really sounded like that's what you were saying and that would be an incredibly stupid thing to propose.

I take it back.
I believe in evolution and want Darwinism to take you down.

Why don't you just make the point you want to asking a thousand stupid questions?

But why? If someone truly in their heart believes that evolution and survival of the fittest produces the best a species has to offer, how does that square with thwarting the process? Because of their individual emotion which is more important than the belief?
Or they think evolution no long applies to man, which is certainly not an argument I am hearing from that group.

Because we have other methods of guaranteeing survival of the species. And we care about people who are not considered fit. Neither of these two points are in conflict with the theory of Evolution

We don't need evolution for that either. In the not so distant future we'll be able to change our DNA via artificial means. We'll be able to improve man kind without Evolution

But why?
Recognizing that something exists doesn't equal relishing in the concept. Like I said: I believe in the theory of gravity but I'm still going to tell someone to be careful if they're near a ledge.

Where do you get this "best a species has to offer" shite? That's in your mind, not what the theory actually proposes. Species evolve to fill a niche. That's it. "Best a species has to offer" isn't part of the equation. Evolution isn't a sentient being. It doesn't have goals.
quote:Like someone else said, this is a clown question. If my mother is dying of a preventable disease I shouldn't treat her because evolution? This kind of stupid makes my head hurt.
Because of their individual emotion which is more important than the belief?

I see the point you are trying to make, which seems to be that we are maybe in a lull period where our technology has stopped the natural process and as it gets more advanced we will begin an ‘artificial’ process.
Of course, I think implicit in your point is that the (this will sound harsh) ‘substandard’ people that we are keeping alive today will no longer exist going forward once we get our hands on the DNA reigns.
