Why doesn't anyone use a blinker/signaler/turn indicator anymore?

Seems like the art of using turn signals has gone extinct in these parts. I think it increases the likelihood of auto accidents, yet I'm not sure if anyone believes that a little ole light like that could REALLY cause an accident, could it?
I for one have run into several situations where the non-use of a turn signal has pushed the possibility of an accident to near certain. Also, please turn on your lights when it's dark outside. If I can't see your vehicle until your 5 feet away from me because you refuse to acknowledge your vehicles' lack of illumination, you should probably reassess your license to drive. You also look really stupid driving in a pitch black car, and I'm surprised you have a clue as to how fast you're going if you can't see your speedometer.

Because especially in baton rouge it means for the person in the other lane to speed up and block you from getting over.
Baton rouge has the worst drivers ever.
