We shut things down the day before for the threat of snow. The threat!
Again, no shite. They don't want to take the risk of it happening and be unprepared to deal with accidents. Better to close up shop and keep people off the roads.

Why do some places close when it gets really hot?
Because they don't have central AC and it isn't something they deal with a lot.
That never happens.

We don't have the equipment and preparation to deal with it. It doesn't freeze often enough to have they equipment. It is really genuinely unsafe.
Are snowtrucks, or snowplows even a concept anywhere in the South?

Yup - use the ATL disaster from a few years back as an example.

Yeah. The south laughs when places like Wisconsin issue "heat advisories" when it's 91 deg

Twice a year? In South Louisiana? Bull shite.
This phenomenon isn't limited to South Louisiana. It happens across the South where it happens relatively more often.

Why does this thread come up every time this happens?
Posted on 1/16/18 at 11:52 am to rpg37
It's more about the ice than anything. Not sure if you know this or not, but the deep south isn't exactly prepared for snow and ice weather events. I hope you can understand this. Pussy.
Posted on 1/16/18 at 11:53 am to rpg37
Because people own chains to put on tires?
Because each parish has a machines to sand and salt the roads?
I mean do you really not understand it?

quote:This. They don't stock mountains of salt to spread on the roads. Thank god, because we don't have to worry about our vehicles rusting to shite because of it.
Because DOTD is not prepared for snow or ice covered roads.
And no one here owns snow chains or studded tires.

Byproduct of the "try-hard" culture of the OT.

Different regions handle weather events differently.
Look what happens when a hurricane goes up the north east.
Look what happens when areas that don't get mudslides get a mudslide.
Look what happens when areas that don't get a lot of rain get 8 inches in 2 days.
It's hard to comprehend. I know.

Because people such as the OP like to pretend like they can’t understand it in order to troll a website.
Either that or they’re actually that dumb.
