This all hit home when I got divorced at 40. One of the first things I did was meet a buddy and hit an LSU game and then went out to a few bars..
Damn I looked like a perv. All the kids were like 22 and it hit me I didn't get to go back to LSU and hit on college chicks in bars again.

It ain't going by fast enough for that 110 year old lady they interviewed over the weekend.
She is about 4 months younger than my grandmother who we all thought lived to a ripe old age when she died in 98.

Yup. Answer: time. Or rather free time.
Combination full time job and home life with kids and next thing you know you're staying so busy time flies by.
Back in school, even when it seemed busy, it really wasn't, or maybe it was for a few days or weeks, but then it would slow down greatly.
But now, it rarely slows down and when it does it's very fleeting.
Rinse, fricking repeat.

Want to get a real sense of how tiny you are in the scheme of things? Go walk through a cemetery. Look at the graves of people who lived for just a flash 100 years ago.
A child who dies as an infant.
A girl who died on her 16th birthday.
All their drama, memories, loves, hates, fears, relationships. All gone. No one visits their graves. No one remembers who they were or what they stood for.
And 100 years from now, it will be the same way about you and me.
Tldr; nothing really matters.

I just turned 25 and I'm already feeling this. First year of the job has flown by. Time just moves faster the older you get.

Yup. When you're 10, 10 years is your whole llife and you pprobably only remember 5 ofthem at most. Also, some just 6 years older than you is super old aand someone a couple years younger is super young.
And you still have stages of life. Graduations, puberty, adolescence, teenage, etc...
When you're you're 40 you've lived 4xs as long and done and infinite amount of learning and experiences . you're locked into a routine, you associate with people of all ages, and you have other people whether at your job or your family that depend on you.
If you never take the time to slow down and enjoy a beautiful day or experience once in a while they all fly by like a blur.

I often catch myself thinking back that the mid 90's wasn't very long ago at all, yet it's been 20 years, and when I think of myself 20 years in the future, it's gets depressing.
