because the 10 highest reviewed sheets are all complete garbage.

COMPLETE garbage.

whats' the point of reviews?

if the most 'popular' review is a 1-star, shouldn't that relegate the product down somewhat in their results?

c'mon cocomo. 'jumping the shark' means that the idea that crowdsourced reviews would naturally result in better products being featured.

clearly that's not working.

Well that's just not true. I've provided "some" decent content. Example.

And I really love how calling an idiot an idiot (no offense CAD) makes me a bad poster.

Jumping the shark is an idiom created by Jon Hein that was used to describe the moment in the evolution of a television show when it begins a decline in quality, which is usually a particular scene, episode, or aspect of a show in which the writers use some type of "gimmick" in an attempt to keep viewers' interest. Its name is taken from a scene from a fifth season episode of the sit-com Happy Days when the character Fonzie jumps over a shark while on water-skis.[1][2][3]

The usage of "jump the shark" has subsequently broadened beyond television, indicating the moment when a brand, design, or creative effort's evolution declines.

Taken from wiki. Though I see it can include brands, design, yadda yadda yadda, I don't think you're using it correctly.

Also, if they are the best sheets they sell, then they should be the highest rated. Where does it say they have to sell the absolute best of everything? They're the highest rated because it's the best they provide, not the best on earth.

The most popular being the most helpful, not really. It just means that people probably found the one star rating to be the most helpful out of all the other ratings/reviews.

Aside from the misuse of the phrase, what the hell would make you automatically believe that just because something had tons of reviews, that meant it was a good product? Maybe all of the reviews were bad. Maybe the good reviews were using the product differently from what you intended to use it for. Whatever. Why would you immediately one-click it without doing a few minutes of shitty research even?

And on top of all of that, how the hell does that make Amazon shitty? It's all user-based. All Amazon does it link the products, and then make sure they are shipped. Both of which worked perfectly in your case(s). Yet here you are bitching about how much Amazon sucks. Surely you see how fricking stupid that sounds.

I figured it was close enough, but noticed the change right after I read your post about the title. It's getting hard to find this thread with all the name changes.

I think it would be more accurate to say CAD703X has jumped the shark. Amazon is still pretty awesome.

Right. That's not how you are using it. Amazon has always had user reviews and ratings. And on top of that, Amazon's efforts and brand aren't on the decline. Also, they aren't using anything "gimmicky" either.

Just because JtS can apply to brands doesn't mean you are using it correctly.

I feel like I'm talking to a 3 year old.
