Because you and society have set an arbitrary age that you now hold to, as if it means anything.
Under 200 years ago, it wasn’t uncommon to marry in your teens.
In WWI and WWII, teenagers died in the 1000s.
What defines whether someone is a man?
If you treat someone as a child, they will act like a child.
