It's the challenge of being all alone with only yourself to depend on if things start to go south.

It's that first tee time on a Saturday morning with fresh cut grass and few on the fairways.

It's a perfectly struck shot that goes exactly where u intended.

It's needing a short putt to shoot your best round ever.

It's the being with a group of guys and smoking cigars and drinking beer while being away from the wives.

It's the game of a lifetime!

I fricking hate golf...with a passion. I wish I would have never picked up the game.

That's the honest truth.

My husband loves it and is pretty good. Hoping the girls will enjoy it as well when they get old enough to try it out (currently 4 and 1). What are y'all's thoughts on girls taking up golf?

Don't rush them in to it. Guide them to finding the sport on their own. There are a lot more opportunities for females playing golf than males, and all the ones I have met are very nice and respectable. The game teaches you a lot, especially at an early age.

i have a 8 and 5 year old (girls)
they come play with me all the time
the 5 year old goes straight to every bunker and starts raking and my 8 year old pulls the pin for me everytime.
oldest is starting to ask about getting some clubs

My 12 year old cousin in Roswell, ya, is awesome! She is on her school gold team and gets to work on the green at some of the major professional tournaments often. It's pretty cool. But she really is good at golf.

There seems to be a big influx of girls getting into golf.

I live of a Course and there seems to be a big increase in the girls that are playing.

It looks like a bunch of clones out there.

sort of. road racing and modifying cars is way more expensive hobby. I could have saved so much money if I didn't get into cars starting in my early 20's.

For me, it's hitting one between the proverbial screws and watching go over 300 yards. Other than hitting a homerun in baseball on the sweet spot of the bat, nothing compares to it. The difference is that if I go play a round of golf, I can usually hit a 300 yard plus drive 3-5 times a round. You'll never even average ONE homerun a game.

Here's a story I once posted on MSB --

quote:

I once played in a scramble tournament there. We got to the 330 yd. par 4, 12th Hole. It was a 90 degree dogleg right where the hole was not visible. I was hitting last and one my playing partners hit a good drive down the middle leaving us with about a 150 yard shot in. So, I decided to go for it and play a huge slice. I had never played the course so it was all blind. My playing partner had played the course before and thought I didn't have a chance.

Even after I hit it, he swore it was in the woods and didn't even come close to reaching the green. When we made the turn, the foursome in front of us were just staring at us. My partner was looking in the woods for my ball, when one of the guys on the green asked if anyone was playing a Titleist. I said, "Yeah, I am." They told us that the ball hit right over the sandtrap protecting the green and hopped up and missed going in the cup by about an inch. They were all wondering where the ball had come from. They thought it might have been an errant shot from another hole. I made the three footer coming back for Eagle. It would have been sweet to get my only hole-in-one at a Par 4.

When I'm not playing I love it, in my head I know how beautiful a well hit shot is. The front 9 I typically begin to hate it as shot after shot I am not hitting these beautiful shots then the back 9 as i make my epic come back I begin to love it.

All for it. For a guy to get a golf scholarship, he has to pretty much be a scratch player. A girl who breaks 80 consistently can get a scholarship. Part of the reason is that because of Title IX, the girl's teams typically get 8 scholarships while the men's team gets 4.

There's always one or two holes when I have a nuclear meltdown and shoot anywhere between 8-10, raping my score. Those are the times when I try my hardest not to break every club in my bag and throw everything in the nearest pond.

What a game...
