I am praying to God since he is the one that grants prayers, not to be glib, but he won't listen unless I go through a middle man?

If you think Jesus is the middle man between you and God, then you are a heretic.

Again... why would you pray to a deity differently than how they wish to be prayed to?

You either believe or you don't... and if you believe, you'd want to follow God's Word.

We don’t have access to God without Jesus

So no access to God unless you go through his son, so if I don't use "Jesus Name' I really shouldn't bother praying at all?
Jesus is God, so if you are praying to Jesus you are praying to God.

We don’t understand why, we don’t need to, we need to have faith. The Trinity is the central mystery to the Christian faith - it’s a mystery because we cannot comprehend how it works. Just pray.

If that's what they believe who am I to judge, I am talking about the Christian faith here. I was raised in the Church of Christ, it doesn't get more strict than that.

I find it interesting how the word prayer has evolved over time. The old time usage of the word and how it's used in the legal system is a request. The more modern version is and mostly Protestant meaning of prayer is more equivalent to worship.

I think that's one of the main reasons many Protestants accuse Catholics of worshiping Mary and the Saints where the Catholics see it as a request from souls we know are in heaven. It's the same as asking your friends here on earth to pray for you or you praying for your friends and family. Protestants would call that fellowship. Catholics call it the communion of saints which is a spiritual union of all believers in Christ, here or earth and in heaven.

Well praying and getting saved are 2 separate things. The scripture you quoted refers to getting saved. The only way to salvation is through Christ, who God sent to Earth as a man. Praying, I pray to God and end my prayers in Jesus name. Not sure why because Christ pretty well told us how to pray to the Father. I figure he put that out there when he was walking on Earth as a man because he even prayed to his own Father.

The most helpful post so far, thank you. Too bad it came after mods anchored the thread.

The question was answered early on. Jesus is God. It doesn't matter if you refer to him as Jesus or God.

Y'all don't believe in the doctrine of the Trinity? It's a doctrine that is very common among Christian faiths.

Then why demand to go through Jesus to get to me, why not just say pray to me since Jesus was a disguise?

One thing I find interesting on here, is you can ask for prayers, you can talk about religious schools, but you cannot discuss religion. Isn't this the Off Topic board?

It was a legit civilized discussion other than the one alter.

Dunno why it's not predominate in a lot of the different christian churches, I was never taught it, doesn't mean it's wrong. You practice how you are brought up most of the time.

uh, me, too. The Trinity is the central mystery to the Christian Faith. That is Christianity - the fact that Jesus is part of the Trinity and is also a man.
