Why do some criminal cases get more publicity than others?

Casey Anthony for example. Mothers kill their kids and try to cover it up on the reg, yet watching all the publicity around this you’d think it has never happened.
The Jodi Arias case, Scott Peterson case, etc.....all horrible crimes, yet committed almost on a daily basis yet for some reason the media makes these captivating.
Why do we focus so much on these and not all the others???

Because the defendants are attractive, seemingly normal people. It’s easier to be like

Everyday there are small headlines soon forgotten of missing kids, love triangles ending in murder, or some crazy mom or dad killing their children in some way. Yet it never makes it a prolonged story or is publicized past that.
Then a Casey or Jodi come along and you’d think this has never happened before by the media.
