Why do solicitors even bother knocking on my door?

First off, there is a big sign at the front of my neighborhood that says "No solicitors." Second, this is 2015. Whatever need I have to fill can be easily discovered online. Yet there is guy walking around my neighborhood right now, binder in hand and name tag on shirt, going door to door. I'm trying to relax at my house upon an evening. Leave me the frick alone.

Don't answer your door
How fricking hard is that?

He is wandering around, giving you plenty of time to microwave a big cup of hot oil to throw on him.

Has a sign ever really stopped anyone?

I didn't answer. The intrusion on my solitude via doorbell was annoying enough.

Is the neighborhood gate open.. or do you just not have one?

I live in a gated community with about 8 homes. We don't answer to anyone. I control the gate, matter of fact.

Really, someone unsolicited knocks on your door and you cower inside with the TV off hoping they leave?
Grow a pair.

I always look at the cam when it gives off the approach noise, I then watch them approach AND leave. If they are persistent with the ringing/knocking I adjust.

It's probably a Vivint home security salesman. I trolled the shite out of their Facebook page the other day because I've had like a dozen of their guys come here in the past couple of years. I told the last guy that even if I wanted thier product I would never buy it from them because of the constant soliciting.

I can't help but feel you are the solicitor walking my neighborhood. I didn't feel like getting out of my chair, to be honest. This is probably the first time I didn't answer my door, but only because I happened to see him from the window next to my chair as he was walking up.

Pour water on them from upstairs and laugh

Install a mister in the entryway. Then set it off when needed.

Came to my house yesterday. I politely told him to get fricked.
