Creole doesn’t just mean a Cajun mixed with black either. Go start a thread about alabama and maybe you will be a bit more knowledgeable on the subject (I doubt it honestly)

Either should be acceptable for all intensive purposes.

Probably the same reason so many people can't pronounce Louisiana. It's not Looziana for christ sakes, it's Lou-weez-e-ana.

HOWEVER - This is literally the only word that I struggle with. When I am with friends and family, I just say "axe" because they know me. But when I am in a professional environment or talking to new people, I have to think of the correct pronunciation before saying it. Sometimes it looks like I am having a stroke because there is typically a small pause so that I can correctly pronounce it. I literally can't help it.

There are more than a handful of people who have this issue with certain words. Nuke-cue-ler instead of nuclear is another word that tripped up a former President repeatedly for example and that mofo was a Yalee.

There’s no accounting for POTUS pronunciation of that word; Carter pronounced it “new-kee-yer” and he studied it at the Naval Academy.
