1. non contagious
2. many cancers don't show symptoms (so you can still look healthy)
3. and I think the biggest reason..."no fault" "happens to anybody"...unlike AIDS (wear a condom, use clean needle)

A friend of mine works in neurology as a physician assistant, and people fake a plethora of things like pain, epilepsy, and just make up problems/illnesses that aren't real daily.

Girl I knew in college faked leukemia for quite awhile. Married has a toddler and lives in DC now. When she pops up on Facebook I wonder if she's still crazy.

Because when you have cancer it automatically makes you brave in people's eyes. Doesn't matter what you've done up to that point.

There was a dude who posted here and shaggybevo (Dr Drunkenstein) that faked terminal cancer and got a bunch of sympathy over at shaggy. People were actually working on making donations to help his family, then the shaggy sleuths learned he was a criminal on the lam and outed him.
