I have a 1978 Jeep Wagoneer from Colorado and it has A/C.

I had a 2012 wrangler and currently have a 98 wrangler. Both had ice cold a/c that worked

Didn't realize they were coming out with the new engine until after I bought mine. It still helps me navigate the roads of New Orleans.
Don't quote me on this, but I would take the 3.8 over the 3.6.
The 4.0L was the better motor and easier on fuel when offroad or on backroads.

My-
84 CJ7- No AC
81 CJ8- No AC
95 YJ- decent AC
01 TJ- Cold AC
04 LJ- Cold AC
13 JK- Cold climate control AC although I don't usually have doors or a top until football season comes around. I'm not parking it in BR open.

Yikes!
I've had a bunch of a Jeeps. All TJ's. Not a single one of them had a working A/C for any significant amount of time. Don't even get me started on the heater cores in TJ's. I swear the rolled a bare frame onto the assembly line, put the heatercore in place, and built the rest of the jeep around it.

Seems like you could be the common denominator.
