Why are we literally adding the word 'literally" to every sentence now?

Literally, when did this trend start? How do we literally stop it? It's literally annoying as hell. I literally think people who do this are morons.

I'd say for me, it was around 2010 when Rob Lowe first appeared on Parks and Rec.

Not even close.

This has been going on for over a decade, at least.

I graduated high school in 2006 and my dad used to correct my over usage of the word back then. It was how people in high school and college talked then.

Literally shaking.

I started doing it as a joke a year or so ago and now I literally can’t stop.
