Who are you voting for?

&

How much money do you make?

or

How much did you pay for X?

Is this an older generation thing?
Is this stuff supposed to be secret?

Enlighten me OT.

I can see by the down votes that the OT is a little uncomfortable with the subject.

"For whom are you voting?"

The question becomes less taboo when it's not offered by an illiterate jackass.

In the Old West, asking personal questions, or even someone's name, could get you killed.

I've asked my friends how much they make, but I'd never ask my parents or someone I didn't know well. I think some people feel like they're being judged based on how much they make, who they vote for, etc

Why do you need to know these things about a person? Are you writing a book?

I can understand why people wouldn't want to blurt out their income or it being rude to ask someone how much money they make.

I've never understood why people think it's rude to ask how much someone paid for something like a house or a car. More times than not it's out of curiosity as to what something is going for these days and not a judgemental gesture.

I don't know, man.

Might as well add the common question of "Would you mind farting into this jar so I can smell your arse all day?" to that list.

Some people just don't respond well to it, but I don't get why.
