Why are there subtitles to everything on Youtube now?

Who is hired to do it? And did they intentionally get a band of halfwits together to do this? Most don't match up at all with what is actually being said. It's funny and sad at the same time.

It is probably computer recognition. Do you really think they hire people to listen to every video?

It’s a button you click. All you have to do is click it again to turn them off.
And unless the person that posts the video provides accurate captions, then the algorithm tries to caption it. Which is why there are errors.
