Now compare that to a full size with 35s+.
do you not agree that bigger tires on a full size half ton is a lesser change than bigger tires on the taco? Taco's lose up to 5-7 mpg when they get did up.

a non lifted and no bigger shoe tacoma defeats the biggest purpose of what all the off roading is about. Put some bigger tires and lift and your MPG is dog shite.

Mine gets 21 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. That is much better fuel efficiency than larger size trucks. Functional and right size.

No, it isn't. Mine gets about 21 mpg.

i see first hand a friend of mines, don't know exact tire size but its a bigger tire with maybe a 3.5" lift... he's maybe getting 15.5 HWY tops.

They also get slightly less mpg than fullsize.
Only if you are cruising down the highway at 65mph. In real world conditions they get quite a bit better. I averaged 16.5 in an Eco boost and 19 in a Tacoma. Both trucks were double cab 4x4 and the Tacoma had bigger than factory tires.

Nope, I ran 255/75/17 Nitto trail Grapplers on my Tacoma with a 2.5” lift. That is the biggest you can run without chopping the front body mount and it is a heavy arse tire. I got 17.5-18 running them. With 265/70/17 Duratracs I got 19.

My 2010 PreRunner Sport gets 20/21 city and 23/24 highway. as advertised. get this nonsense out of here.

Tacoma's are popular because they are well built machines with a great life expectancy. They also have a very good stigma attached to it in terms of reliability, which in turn provides great resale value.
I had a 2003 Tacoma that was totaled in Jan of 2017. I got 10,000 for it from my insurance agent

I’ve got a 2012 4WD Tacoma SR5 with almost 150k on it. I’ve changed the plugs once, and the battery a few times. The only major repair was a bad drive shaft hanger bearing and one U joint.
I bought it used and wonder if the previous owner did some off reading along the Galveston coast and maybe got some salt water contamination in the u-joint.
Other than that it’s been a good truck and it fits in my garage.
When I trade it in for a new one in the distant future I’ll get another Tacoma.

I never got 15 mpg in mine, ever. Something about pressing my left foot to the floor made my right foot do the same. Miss the ole girl.

You seem to be comparing a mid size truck to full size truck. Why not compare f150 to ranger. Illogical. Compare the tundra not Tacoma

The comparison is about price and bang for buck.

I have oversized off road tires and get 20mpg on the highway
(I go over 100mph though)

Excellent reliability
Resale value
I bought a used one, drove it for 3 years, traded it in for a few thousand less than I had bought it for, and purchased a brand new one, with minimal change in my note. And 0% financing, only financed for 4 years.
The trucks have made major strides with the extras offered since 2015. But bottom line, they are the #1 vehicle (not truck, but of any vehicle) at holding their resale value.
I love em.
No argument, they do have a longer life expectancy. And less maintenance and repair costs, despite the longer life expectancy. One of the reasons for why they maintain their value.

One could argue they have a longer life expectancy, but GM/Ford can easily get 250K+.
