Yes I read your no-so-thought-out OP

People are just as afraid of spiders, scorpions, and other ugly venomous shite as they are snakes.

Meh, snakes don't bother me. I used to catch them often as a kid and had one as a pet in college.

Bees scare me much more than a snake does. I had any kind of bee/hornet

In my life I've probably killed 150 snakes. And every one of those snakes had friends and family who loved them. I'm careful, I sleep with one eye open, I always take the table in the corner. But I know that day is coming. I'll be sitting in some cheesy diner with my family, listening to Journey while we wait for our onion rings when some snake slithers in wearing a Member's Only jacket.

Its a snake man. They need to die except for those that eat snakes. But those that eat snakes probably need to die too.

Anyone who says this are the ones who take a shovel to a snake without knowing first if it's even venomous. If it's not threatening, just leave it be. I say to these people, congrats on the rat infestation.

I had multiple snakes as pets growing up that I caught around the house. Rat snakes, King snakes, Hognose snakes. My favorites were the Hognose. Those were just some relaxed snakes and were easy to feed.... just go out and catch a toad every now and then. I always turned them loose after a while though.

Simply because of ignorance. If you don't understand something/comprehend, usually results in fear of that subject. Some people are just short minded. Not everyone can be rational.

In college I once had a group of girls see a garter snake in our parking lot and jump on a picnic table. I couldn't put down what I was doing but a few coworkers and customers went out to see what was going on. Walked outside 10 minutes later to find 5 grown men had formed a perimeter around the snake and still trying to figure out how to handle it. I looked at the snake for 2 seconds, identified it, picked it up and threw it over the fence. Couldn't believe the lack of knowledge about and fear of snakes from grown men.

The snake exhibit at Audubon zoo used to be my favorite as a kid.

They look awesome and generally run shite in their natural environment. Plus they take out pests and rodents and will generally leave you alone unless you frick with them first.

I think that the natural fear of snakes is a little embedded into human the psyche because snakes were a persitant predator to early mammals.
