There might be a LOT of truth to this. I think the move to delivery and take out after the shutdowns helped to normalize delivery and take out as preferable to dining out.

Some Restaurants probably took notice of the changing attitude and basically said “To hell with the large overhead of having a full time staff.”

Maybe, but has to be more waste too. At least I hope they throw that shite away after a day or so.

Speaking of buffets (not Chinese), I ate a Little Big Cup in Arnoudville (sp?) for brunch last Sunday and it was hands down, by far, the best buffet I’ve ever tasted. Everything was delicious. I’m not a big eater and I gorged myself. Totally worth it, even with a 3 hour drive ahead of me.

I always realized that restaurants would be more profitable if they could just shove the food at us in a paper bag. We used to insist on more.

"Drive-thru" service is a bridge too far for me. I've never used it and I never will. Y'all have fun screaming your dinner requirements into that clown head, though.

Those frickers will open up the day after after a nuclear holocaust. I don’t know how they’ll do it, but I have no doubt I can get a kolache in Houston the day after a thermonuclear bomb hits Mid Town.

I also think that there’s a cultural aspect involving COVID that I’ve noticed up here, in that many Asians tend to be very COVID fearful and overly compliant with government mandates

I’m thinking this fearfulness is the primary reason. They had dine-in crowd$ plus takeout crowd$. Only fear would make you want to lose that money.

There’s a significant crowd who hate their deep fried foods (mandarin chicken, sweet & sour shrimp, etc) being locked in a styrofoam plate steaming up into a soggy mess during the drive home. They stupidly lose that money with no dine-in.

Strangely, all the Chinese massage places still seem to be open for inside service. At least, the
‘Open’ and ‘foot massage’ neon signs are still blinking out front 24/7.

I can fix that. I’ll bring my own. Between my cat and the 2 strays he rips my blinds down trying to attack at 4:00 am, I can feed most of us posting in this thread.

Sitting at a red light the other day, I looked over abs people were standing in line.
You guessed it, Chinese restaurant, not a buffet.

Chinese are germaphobes. My wife’s Chinese, we live two miles from her brother’s family. Before covid we saw them every couple weeks. The last time we saw them in person was January 2020 right when it started.

We have all had our shots AND boosters…they are still in isolation. They just moved from China 5 years ago, so they were promaskers before covid.
