Nothing against Houston but there are plenty of other places I'd rather live in Texas, not to mention the rest of the country. It's popular here due to the fact that it's the closest major employment center to South Louisiana.

Houston is solid. Like Jacksonville without the beaches.
The hate is because LA is TX's little brother and they have an inferiority complex.
90% of LSU grads move to Houston because of it strong economy. Those stuck in LA are envious. Houston is big has a baseball team and loads more stuff to do than NOLA or BR. It even has a strong NOLA feel because of all the transplants.
Even Chicken runs TD from Houston. That says all you need.
It's where Louisianan's go to when they outgrow LA. That guy that said Houston was Louisiana's New York was kind of right.
^^Here is a prime example of the kind of shite that causes the hate. It's not that Houston is a hateful entity, it's people saying shite like this make you want to hate on it.
I'll be the first person to say that Louisiana sucks arse. And I'm all for living in a better city where the government cares about progress more than caring about pocketing the tax dollars and being a career politician. And I have lived in a different city and have that perspective first hand. But that being said, Houston is not some fricking mecca of civilization which provokes "jealousy". Come on...

Texas arrogance most likely. That and Enron ...

I live in the north burbs. I understand the hate but also know the love. If you are willing to drive 30 minutes then you can do some great shite. If not, like me, it’s sort of cookie cutter.

Because it's full of Texans...The only reason texans aren't the worst type of people in America is because Californians have laid a permanent flag on that title.

Dug out a bayou and created a port, more food variety than NOLA and better food at that, better infrastructure, schools, all major sports, better Universities private and public, more refined culture and better-looking women, although I'll concede yours are more whorish

so theres that

I'm enjoying Houston for a Southern city. It's still a Southern city unfortunately.
I do laugh when people from Louisiana make fun of the Houston culinary scene. It's really impressive.

The astrodome?
I can guarantee over half the country doesn't watch baseball. Anyone with a brain in America knows the Empire State Building in NYC, or the Sears Tower in Chicago. Everyone knows the Hollywood sign in LA.
Houston is bland.

Houston sure does seem to live rent free in many of your heads. Little bro syndrome is strong in many of you

I get all that.
It’s just not a place people want to visit and not a place people choose to move. I’d say more people are forced to move/live in Houston than choose to.
If you didn’t have to live in Houston, would you?
What about you Berg? It seems like you’re in New Orleans or Baton Rouge every weekend.
Where would you rather live?
Don’t you live in Houston because you have to?

West Houston is awesome. Unfortunately if I moved to Houston I wouldn't be able to afford a decent home with a yard that isn't in a flood zone, unless I went all the way out to Katy, which is nice but isn't really anything special.

Dude you live in New Orleans

That dude is a nut job. He should be blackballed from Houston & New Orleans threads.
Very few people with unlimited options & resources are choosing to live in New Orleans either.

I lived in Houston for many years, i’m originally from NOLA... i dont ‘hate’ Houston for sure, but i definitely dont have much love for it either.. the things i liked about it were that it’s a huge city, and i am a big city person.. so obviously if you’re someone who prefers a slower pace of life, or living on an acre with your closest neighbor a half mile away- you won’t like Houston.. also i liked that Houston is so close to BR that i was able to go home for every single LSU home game without breaking a sweat.. simply cant get that with any other large city............ The bad: Houston is so damn bland and generic.. granted, you can say that about a lot of cities that aren’t NOLA, Austin, San Fran etc.. but in all my years in Houston, whenever people visited from out of town, i really struggled to find things to do.. i mean unique things you cant do in 50 other cities.. there are some good restaurants, but again, that’s every city.. besides that, i guess they could drive an hour to NASA(?) or maybe go to Discovery Green(?) whoopty-doo, a park downtown.... i really liked the area of Houston we lived in, River Oaks, and we made a killing when we sold our house there- but honestly, every city has great areas, and can be liveable.. but Houston just didnt do it for me in a lot of ways, and i wouldn’t recommend.

Houston is full of chains and Texans, what is there to like about that? It’s one of the most culturally void places I’ve been, which is shocking because of the amount of different ethnicities in the city.
This is a common claim by New Orleanians who don't know shite. Like the Brennans and others don't own more than one restaurant. They do have a lot of chains and a LOT of good single location restaurants. If a restaurant decides to build another 20 miles away in the Houston area, it usually isn't as good as the original. Back in the day there was not a better steak anywhere in Louisiana than Brenner's, run by an old German couple, whose children all became MD's and Lawyers, so eventually sold out to Fertita, when the old lady died.
FTR, when I lived in Houston, I went less to Astros, Oilers, Astroworld, Rockets, etc... than when I lived before in Louisiana. We were to busy doing other things.

New Orleans is a fun city
But the posters who antagonize others as if New Orleans is Manhattan are hilarious

Show me where I’ve hated on Houston? I haven’t said one negative thing about Houston. Just stating a few facts and opinions.
