This makes me feel young. I was born in 1978.

This is just a theory, but why does it have to be one or the other? There is socialism and capitalism. Total socialism does not work, will never work. In theory, capitalism is what this country is built on. It gives anyone the opportunity to build wealth. Competition brings out the best and without it people have less of an incentive.

In order for capitalism to work, there needs to be different classes. It needs a lower class, a middle class, upper middle and upper class. Lower class has the opportunity to work up to middle class.

In reality, while the opportunity is there, not everyone has the same opportunity, if that makes sense. Lack of education is probably the one major factor in whether or not someone has a real opportunity (and this doesn't mean having a college education. If I had to pick from someone with a college degree or someone without a college degree who has a strong work ethic and common sense, give me the hard worker with common sense).

This country is more complicated than one political-economic theory or the other. It is heavily built on capitalism and thats why we are the country that we are, but I am okay with it not being total capitalism. Which we are not.
