That’s playing during the baseball game? Really helps me enjoy the spring weather. Blocks out all the noise.

It’s called direct marketing:
Montana probably doesn’t get the same commercials.

Mental illness is rampant and untreated in America

It almost matches up except for northern New York State, and Willacy County, Texas

Old chart, but it’s the first one I came across on Google and it combines ethnicity vs. age:
Another one:
And here’s one that accounts for ethnicity vs. gender:

This thread started by asking who was enjoying the AIDS commercials during the baseball games. Then...
How did it end up here? Why did it end up here?

Here is the United States broken down by County by median income (2011...shoot me, I’m not going to dig through to find the latest map):
And here is a breakdown for HIV/AIDS by race, age, sex, and median income:

Well, the question has implied secondary question about “why are they showing this commercial”.
I raised the contention that if you’re in the South, you’re in a prime advertisement bloc to be advertised to about HIV products.
Other people raised other questions, and I obliged them with answers about the demographics of HIV/AIDS. If there’s an ulterior, sinister motive to their questions, I make no claims of alliance with them. I’m merely throwing out this data.
Edit: For the record, you can only take away correlations relationships from this data. There’s clear relationships present, but there’s no way to tease a causal relationship because this is all tied to a socioeconomic axis with multiple different potential underlying causes.

I’ve worked in the public health field in the past. Didn’t work directly with HIV/AIDS but know people who did and still do.
Before COVID, the South’s primary public health concern was obesity, and secondly HIV/AIDS.
Edit: Most people I’ve met in the field see it as primarily an education/outreach issue. Awareness assessments tend to show a higher predictive relationship with HIV rates (I.e. among people with HIV vs the general population, the people with HIV showed less general knowledge of how the dangers of HIV, how it is transmitted, or preventative strategies, and this relationship is stronger than almost any other correlate).

Diabetes and obesity are so tightly associated with each other, I don’t see them as separate issues.

I did it as hard as I could at the time. I was fresh out of college with a biology degree and some computer programming skills. I took the data from the researchers and would plot spatially and do the inferential statistics on it. I gave up after a year to do something else.
