I have not seen one study where it's even close to being revenue neutral for the state. It's really not even close.
Proponents are reduced to telling us it increases tourism to justify the large shortfall.
No objective study can demonstrate that we are close to breaking even, or that the objective of growing a thriving, self-sustaining industry is being realized as had been the original goal when the program was started. In fact when they legislators debated the merits of the program, business dried up and left got greener pastures.
They didn't put down many roots, and the infrastructure and trained workforce the lobbyists here touted didn't keep OOS folks here.
I wish this had worked, but Jindal and Dardenne's plans failed. JBE should pull the plug, but he also succumbed to the nursing home lobby, he succumbed to the film lobby who had Dardenne's help.

Treen was a good man but largely ineffective because of the corruption that is so ingrained in Louisiana politics. Nothing will ever change here because of politicians’ insistence on lining their own pockets instead of putting the state first. Look at Texas if you want to see how a state government should be run correctly. Hell, even California gets more bang for their tax dollars than Louisiana and maintains a strong industrial base despite the abundance of liberal retards in the state assembly. My parents always said EWE was the problem but after seeing Treen, Buddy Roemer, Mike Foster, and the colossal frick up Bobby Jindal fail to orchestrate any meaningful change, I’ve concluded that Louisiana just is what it is: a state with great natural resources and interesting culture that will never maximize its potential because of political corruption and malfeasance.

Just a straightforward question: have we had economic studies done on this? I remember asking I'm here and none were produced. I'm not saying changed didn't need to be made but if you think some tourism bureau marketing is going to shed the image Louisiana has you're crazy. He Hollywood south tag and celebrities talking up Louisiana are way more effective

It's a terrible investment. Plus, the only things anyone from out of state remembers is Duck Dynasty and Swamp People.
Studios will go wherever it's the cheapest. They've got a racket going on with these movie credits.
