They weren't stolen. They got out. They are just calling it a theft for insurance / licensing purposes. They will get in trouble with the state if they admit the primates escaped.
A friend's parents had an exotic animal farm in NV and they had a bunch of those things. They were forever breaking out of the cages. The worst part was they would break into the house, steal his shite and take it back to their cages and then refuse to let him come get it.
He hated those monkeys and said they were "assholes."
