WCW Saturday Night was atrocious.
watch your mouth. it was the "mothership" as dusty rhodes called it before nitro. but you are right it eventually became a bunch of squash matches and recaps of nitro/thunder.

When WCW was good, it was awesome. And it spawned the greatest wrestling game (and one of the greatest video games period) of all time: WCW vs. nWo. God that game was fantastic.

After Bash at the Beach 2000, it was all downhill. Booker T won the title 4 times between July 2000 and March 2001. That's 8 months. Even before that, the title was tossed around like a hot potato.
WCW had the talent, but forgot that you need to build new talent as well. The wrestlers were great, the management, not so much.

Plus Thunder was filmed like a week in advance
I remember going to a Thunder show in Lafayette in either 1998 or 1999 and they did a live show, then did the show for the following week right after.

Oh man it was awful. I found myself watching just to see how bad it would get. The Judy Bagwell on a Pole match is up there. Screaming Norman Smiley as the Hardcore Champ, too. The whole thing was a dumpster fire.

Screaming Norman was hysterical. I actually felt he was under utilized.

The Mene Gene vs. Mark Madden match on Thunder circa August 2000 was so bad.
And Tank Abbott as a 3 Count groupie.

It fell off a cliff so fast when they got that guy from WWF to run the story line. I think out as a set up.
From 1996 to 1999 WCW was the GOAT!!

Yeah the wrestlers were for the most part still solid. Way better than current TNA. The booking though. I mean every fricking match had interference so nobody ever won clean.

I'd like to read it. I was upset when Mankind won the WWF belt and Jerry Lawler spoiled it for everyone on WCW.
"Remember kids we are always live, and would never give M8ck Foley a belt". That was crappy.
Mick Foley put out a really good book.

Late WCW was still buying over the hill WWF talent. Hogan and Savage sure, but Ahmed Johnson? Lol.

Second best.

Also remember driving to Pensacola to see a Nitro show. I was the only Wolfpack in my group. Nash did something and my friend threw a drink that was 50% Jim Bean at the back if his head and it exploded.
He ran and was yelling into the crowd, but it made great TV.
I WOULD be pissed too, that shite smells like a strip club at 4am.
We also would do dumb wrestling shite. We would go tubing and wrestle the loser got his tube popped.
When we were even younger, my friends brother had a bell and hammer. He would come out in the morning, call two names and hit the bell and we would wrestle.
Stupid shite.

Judy Bagwell on a pole match. Let that sink in

It wasn't ALL bad. We did get Big Poppa Pump with a tiger and Russo's infamous Hogan promo.

And then there was the Sunday afternoon show on TBS. Or was that just a repeat of the Saturday night show? I can’t remember. I was pro WWE in the Monday Night Wars but I watched wrestling anytime I could find it on.
WWE had Raw, Smackdown, Velocity/Jakked, and Sunday Night Heat all going at the same time, but they seemed to be able to make them all flow a lot better with higher production quality.
WCW's Sunday show was "WCW Pro" (may have been "WCW Pro Wrestling"... just shortened to "Pro")

Respect this man and the title he rightfully won.
