From 83 weeks of winning the ratings war to losing $62 million in 2000. The matches and storylines were so fricking awful. Company sold in March 2001.

WCW/NWO was good stuff for a bit... sting coming down from the ceiling, the wolfpack... fond memories and they had nitro on thursday nights as well.

Yeah. When your biggest storyline is the hiring of a new writer, you've officially jumped the shark.

I was listening to a Russo shoot. He said he never drank or did drugs. At least give yourself an out for that shitshow dude.

WCW did a lot of impersonations in the last years. "Positively" Kanyon who was a DDP impersonator who wrote inspirational books with a brick in them he used for a weapon.

Nitro was Monday nights. Thunder was Thursday nights. Plus they had the saturday night show too. It got too saturated and when Russo took over and Bischoff was gone, it went downhill quick.

WWE is an embarrassment to what pro-wrestling use to be. 1996-2000 was probably the best pro-wrestling has ever been. It's still popular and they fill arenas every week, but I think there is a lack of star power and it just gets downright silly. Not that there wasn't "silly moments" back then, but they just don't have people to really hate or really like today.

If you were a wrestling fan around that time, you ought to read The Death of WCW. It's a blow-by-blow recounting of just how WCW went from being on top to being sold to their competitor in a few months' time. I was a huge WCW fan but quit watching right around the time David Arquette won the belt (because, seriously, David Arquette), so reading about the incredibly stupid stuff that came after that was highly entertaining to me. Seriously, it's not the most well-written book, but it is a good read.
