Latoya.

Nagin couldn't handle Katrina, but that was too much for any mayor. Was on the take which is commonplace for politicians.

Mitch is worse than both.

Nagin was from here, understood the city, and before Katrina he was an extremely moderate and reasonable mayor. Katrina destroyed him mentally, he picked up a bad habit which you can guess and that was that. Pre Katrina Nagin was 100x better than Latoya. Sadly I think Post Katrina Nagin was even still better than what we currently have. I hate to say it can't get any worse, but this woman is the worst mayor of my lifetime and it's not even close, and we have had some bad ones.

Nagin had executive business experience and potential which after Katrina he wasted. Sad.

The current mayor is not close to being in his intellectual or managerial league and simply panders to her base.

The worst type of politician when Nola is in dire need of effective solutions to its current economic problems.

Nagin was actually a pretty smart politician despite the fact he was convicted of fraud, corruption, etc (me saying he is a smart politician doesn't mean I supported the guy or anything, I don't live in NO so its not like I even had skin in the game).

With that said, how is he the only NO mayor to ever get convicted? He was before my time but wasn't Maurice Landrieu corrupt AF?

But back to Nagin. He wasn't a career politician. Wasn't he head of something at Cox? He had the white support his first term. Then after Katrina, he realized that the majority of the people in the city at the time would be black, he had to gain their support.. So he gets on TV and calls NO "Chocolate City".. I know people were all up in arms after he said it, but he knew what he was doing.

And despite the corruption, fraud, etc (I say this because I assume most NO mayors were corrupt, etc), he wasn't that bad of a mayor. Didn't he at least put some effort into cleaning up the NOPD?

So next question, is Latoya worse than Broome? I assume yes but is it at least a close race?

ETA the Shreveport mayor is horrible as well right?

Latoya reminds me of Robert Mugabe, straight hateful and bent on the destruction of everything around her.

Broome is just typical corrupt traditional Black Democrat establishment candidate. I think she is also moderated by her Christian views.

Perkins is in over his head and is immature, I would like to think that he occasionally reflects on the values the Army was supposed to teach him.

Latoya. Nagin messed up Katrina, but he didn't make things worse months after the fact.

Nagin did some good when it came to modernizing city hall... everything just cost 3x as much because people were stealing.

We all thought it would be Great to have a businessman as mayor. Then we realized he was simply an affirmative action hire for a monopoly. Kickbacks were normal.

Some of the population used to call Nagin an Uncle Tom before Katrina, so you know he at least had some decent qualities about him that weren't the norm for mayor of New Orleans before Katrina.
